Breast feeding Australia – links and resources to help you get the most out of your breast feeding journey!

Breast feeding a new baby is very beneficial to both the mother and child, allowing the formation of a close bond and providing many health benefits to a newborn. However, breast feeding is not always easy. Sometimes a baby may have difficulty attaching properly, and at times the mother can have issues and complications with her breasts and milk supply (such as Mastitis and blocked ducts).

To help mums all around Australia get the most out of their breast feeding journey, we now stock a variety of breast feeding aids such as the Breast warmers, Breast Soother, Bebe au lait nursing covers, and Milkscreen, and we have also compiled a few useful links and resources below:

Breast feeding Australia – Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA)

The Australian Breastfeeding association (ABA) was established in 1964 and was originally known as the Nursing Mothers Association of Australia. The ABA is now one of Australia’s largest not for profit women’s organizations. The primary role of the Australian Breastfeeding Association is to provide information and resources to encourage, teach, and support mothers during their Breastfeeding journey. However, they also partake in programs to help improve the general community understanding and acceptance of breastfeeding and the natural role that it is. The ABA is helping remove the barriers that many mums may feel they face when trying to feed in public settings, providing empowerment and confidence to mothers and their breastfed babies. To find out more about the ABA and the services it provides, please see below:

Breastfeeding friendly workplace (BFW)

The ABA has also launched a program known as the Breastfeeding friendly workplace (BFW) to help employers become Breast feeding friendly in their work environments. Through this program the ABA consults with employers to create a work environment in which breastfeeding is accepted and encouraged.  To find out more about the BFW program, visit: http://www.breastfeedingfriendly.com.au/
