Birthing gowns – the largest range in Australia

It was almost 2 years ago that we first heard about the concept of birthing gowns. Admittedly, at first I was like…Really?? would people actually want to buy a gown for labour?? But despite my initial doubts, we decided to begin stocking a couple of brands. Since then, the birthing gown concept has spread like crazy. It turns out that many women do want to look half reasonable during the labour process, and more than that, want to at all costs, avoid the dreaded standard issue hospital gown. Designermamas labour gown Sassy

Now, whether or not women want to buy a birthing gown for looks during labour can be quite a hotly debated topic. However, the vanity issue aside, birthing gowns do have a lot of practical benefits. In Australia, a lot of hospitals may permit you to wear your own choice of clothing. Many pregnant women may opt to wear an old nightie or even their husbands old shirt. However, at some point during labour, this may have to be discarded all together, so that the midwife or doctor can access certain areas of your body (such as your back and tummy). It is also difficult to breastfeed in a regular shirt or nightdress.

The advantages of the labour gowns now available on the Australian market are that they have been specifically designed to ensure medical professionals have easy access to apply monitoring equipment and pain relief, as well as ensuring mum can easily breastfeed her newborn post birth, and enjoy skin to skin contact without the risk of indecent exposure. It also looks great in those first precious mum and bub photos.

Realising that not every style of birthing dress is the same, we set out to create the largest range of birthing gowns in Australia. We are always on the lookout for other great brands, so if you have any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to recommend some to us.
